Since Appchkrs run silently in the background you can sometimes wonder if yours is still running, particularly if something has happened to the mailserver or its connection that is preventing you from getting alerts and heartbeat messages. There are several ways to do this.
(1) Check that the time on the status report is the current time (if enabled), and watch for it to update every minute (or at whatever update interval you have configured.) Especially quick and easy to do from the web interface with the 'View'' menu item.
(2) Check the end of the log to see that it is updating. Also easy to do from the 'View' menu.
(3) On Windows:
(a) Use the tasklist command in a command window
(b) Open task manager (ctrl+alt+del) and review the list of running processes
(4) On linux
(a) Use the ps -fe command at the command line or in a terminal window
(b) Use the 'top' command and select only the processes started by the username used for the Appchkrs.
